As every spinner knows Merino sheep have the finest and softest of all sheep wools and have often gained a reputation for being difficult to spin without the resulting yarn subject to shrinking and felting. Fortunately the author did not know of these prejudices living as she did in one of the more remote areas of New Zealand. Instead of giving up because she knew in advance that Merino would be difficult to spin she proceeded to figure out how to spin it so that the fine wool was usable. Her techniques set the spinner safely on the path to producing successful yarns. Iillustrated.
